I am currently in graduate school so to save time while going to work, I eat lunch on the run. Today I learned something new: Tuna does not run. In fact not only does it not run but it oozes out the sides of the bread making it a bad meal to eat in the car.
I save money by buying the cheapest excuse for a napkin-paper towel that Wal-Mart offers so my one off brand, too cheap to be called a napkin, was overcome by tuna, mayo, mustard, and pickle relish dripping onto my hands. Oh yeah and I am trying to drive with my knees, reaching up to slosh tuna on the steering wheel, so if I smell like Tuna its probably because it is now in my hair.
The motto of this story is do not eat tuna while driving and if you do, buy the napkins that actually absorb moisture.

Long Time Gone

I have been inspired to address the Misconceptions about Realtors. Many of these misconceptions are founded from the assumptions that being a Realtor is easy, you have a flexible schedule, and you make tons of money...Let us begin with a disclaimer, this is Little Bit writing what I have observed...Freedom of Speech so to speak. Sunshine and Mrs. Emily do not know about it.

Working as a Realtor is similar to waiting tables. A customer sits in your section and they are having a good day and say "thank you" "please" and "your welcome". Another customer sits in your section, they aren't mean but they really just want to have a quiet meal and let you do your job...TALK, quiet, TALK, quiet...back and forth...you must have the ability to adapt. And then, there are those mean customers, the ones that you cannot please, they leave a mess of a wreck and then...hey wait...Did you forget my tip? You get the picture?

Flexible Schedule? You go to work at what time? 8-5, or 9-6? Do you have a one hour lunch break somewhere in between...they don't. Do you have Friday and Saturday off? A Realtor's phone never ceases ringing...Lunch is usually at 10pm and their days begin before they can get out of bed. Realtors clean, counsel, drive...oh dear, you don't even want to know.

One final assumption...as a Realtor you make a ton of money. Can anybody say Advertising? Since I have known Sunshine and Mrs. Emily, they have bought the following items to help close a house (and these are just those things I know of)
1. Water Heaters
2. Refrigerators
3. Curtains
4. Paint
5. Home Warranties
Etc. Etc. Etc.

Here is the kicker...Sunshine and Mrs. Emily LOVE what they do. They run in circles because they Love the people they work for and with. So, I am tipping my hat to those two and for all that they do that goes unseen. They make being a Realtor look easy.

Moo Moos and Panties

Realtors have to be resourceful. Each client is different and that requires us to be innovative in finding a method that best suits our clients' needs.

Today, we are going to be resourceful and meet the need to stay cool.
It is hot...A 100+ degrees hot. Fortunately, we live in a climate of dry heat rather than humidity, but it is still hot. So, in order to meet our need to be cool some of us are going to buy moo moos (big fluffy dresses that do not touch any part of the body), while others are going to go without panties, and still some of us will opt for both options.

Go ahead and say it, we sound crazy. But seriously, spend 5+ hours in the sun, journeying from house to house, getting in a car, cranking the air only for it to be cool when we arrive at the next destination, get out of the car, shut off the air, begin the same process again multiplied by hours. We are dehydrated and hot, the sun has zapped our ability to reason and made us cranky.

We are going to buy moo moos and trade in our panties for the freedom to breathe.

Linda's Passion

Linda has a heart that gives and gives, gives and gives, and gives some more...have I made my point? Part of her heart gives to the Ronald McDonald House, specifically, the Ronald McDonald House of the Southwest. Ronald McDonald House of the Southwest states, "Our mission is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children and their families."
Linda is an advocate for the creation and establishment of the Family Room. The Family Room provides a place for the families of children undergoing medical treatment to stay inside the hospital.
These family rooms don't look like your typical hospital waiting room. They provide well thought out design with kitchens, resting areas, showers, washer and dryer, quiet rooms...and best of all, they are FREE to all families of children receiving treatment. No strings, hidden messages, etc. Now, thanks to the Family Room, rather than families sleeping in hallways, stiff chairs, paying high hotel bills, and a list of other headaches, they can comfortably stay in the hospital where their children are sleeping too.

The best part of this information is that July 27th, Family Rooms are opening in Lubbock at Covenant Hospital and University Medical Center.

Realtors Blog Too!

"Join the Parade" is what we feel that we have done by creating a blog. We have joined the madness of internet diaries, emotions and people on parade, because realtors blog too.

There are five of us, we make up the Building Memories Team of WestMark, Realtors. We are located in Lubbock, Texas, the city our Queen happily refers to as "The Giant Side of Texas". Our two leaders, Emily Ratcliff and Linda Gaither are Realtors, and since I am writing for all of us I can say without their permission that they are the most honest- work for you Realtors you will find.

Teri Jo is the lady that helps us keep our sanity. She tells us where to go and what to do.
